Hi! My name is Saralee Gonzalez, and for the last 15 years, yoga has been in my life. From ballet to basketball, I grew up active, probably the result of having a coach for dad. When I got to college, I worried my activity level would decrease and, If I'm being honest, I wanted to avoid gaining the dreaded "freshman 15".
I attended my first yoga class in 2004, but it didn't become a priority until my father was diagnosed with a terminal illness. My practice became my safe space. A time where I could focus on bettering myself, even if it was only for an hour. Yoga, and my supportive husband, got me past a dark chapter in my life. Fast forward to 2020 and yoga, and meditation, which I have been practicing since I was a child, are major parts of my life. Today I dedicate myself as much to teaching as I do studying new techniques, striving to better myself as a student and instructor.
Yoga is as much mental & spiritual, physical, and spiritual practice. Like many of my students, I started for the workout and stayed for the mental and spiritual benefits. There's no "yoga" type; it's truly something for everyone. Much like Gilded Grey, I try to be accessible to everyBODY. You don't have to be a certain shape to practice; you just have to give it a go!
