Hi my name is Ritchell. I grew up on the beautiful island of the Philippines. I migrated to Toronto when I was a teenager, and I am currently working in healthcare field/ hospital setting.
I started this journey not to look like a supermodel, but just to be in a healthy shape and weight. Before I made the decision to change my life, I wasn't in the best of health. I was always getting sick, followed by surgeries every year. My lifestyle at the time was causing my organs to fail. I knew I needed to change, not only because my life depended on it, but because I felt as if every time I was rushed to the hospital, my husband would blame himself, and I hated that.
I told myself that it is never too late to take care of my body, and I really want to live a long life not only for myself, but for my husband, and be best that I can be. I started this journey with a promise to myself that there is no looking back and everything that I adapt to will be a part of my new lifestyle.
It wasn't until I got introduced to rhythm cycling that l really became obsessed with staying active. I am so happy to find a workout that I love and get my butt kicked at the same time. I am so thankful that I found Gaby, and I tell her that she is my angel all the time. I've learned that I can't blame myself for anything. What truly matters is how you change the situation to make it better. I learned that its okay to fall. You just have to stand up, and go at it again. That is what makes you stronger.
I knew that becoming active wasn't going to be the only part of changing my habits. I knew that diet was going to be a big factor as well. To be honest, I didn't really go on any "special diet". I only make sure that I am well nourished by eating balanced meals and snacks. I cut down on eating unnecessary refined sugars, and focused more on healthy options. I also make sure to stay hydrated all day long.
My main motivation for this lifestyle change is that we only have one body and one life. I want to enjoy it with my husband that loves me unconditionally.
xo,
Ritchell
